Vogue Lists Maine Alongside Paris, Rome, and London for Most Anticipated Hotels 2023
Portland, Maine’s Exponential Growth
Walking around the city, I barely recognize it anymore. It feels like overnight, new hotels, restaurants, boutiques, and new buildings are erected and prices are skyrocketing at an alarming rate.
I know this isn’t the first time you’ve heard this concern but when top publications like Vogue, Condé Nast, and Town and Country are highlighting new things coming to Portland, it makes you wonder: Are we getting priced out of our city?
Vogue Mentions Portland, Maine, in List for Most Anticipated Hotels 2023
The luxury publication Vogue has once again mentioned Portland, Maine, for its highly anticipated growth. One of the many buildings under construction in our city is going to soon be the Longfellow Hotel, with a tentative opening in summer 2023.
This Maine hotel was listed in Vogue’s ‘The 26-Most Anticipated New Hotels of 2023’ for its architectural design inspired by Portland’s historic West End and rugged coastline, as well as the Nordic-inspired wellness spa focusing on both body and mind.
Maine was on the list among major metropolitans like Paris, Rome, NYC, Singapore, and London, just to name a few.

The ‘highly anticipated’ hotel design is courtesy of Post Company, which has offices in Wyoming and New York. There’s no surprise here since most of the new ‘luxury’ spots opening around town are all from out-of-staters who seemed to have discovered our state during the quiet of covid and saw the money sign.
The hotel will be located at 754 Congress Street here in Portland, which is kind of an odd spot for such a luxury hotel but we’ll see how it all comes together this summer. The hotel will have 48 rooms and a wellness spa inspired by Nordic spa traditions.
Will it be affordable? Probably not. But hey, maybe I’ll be pleasantly surprised.
