Weir’s Drive-In Movie Theatre is Closing for Good
If you grew up in the Lakes Region or vacationed at Weir’s Beach with family during your summer break, you may be sad to hear that the Weirs Drive-in has been sold.
Patricia Baldi, the owner of the Weirs Drive-In Theatre says it's time to retire. Baldi, who is 78-years-old and her late husband Lawrence, had owned the business since 1974.
According to the Laconia Daily Sun, the 12-acre piece of property is reportedly being sold for $2.5 million to a businessman who is planning on building condos and a commercial development on the land.
The Weirs Drive-In which has been a family destination since it first opened in 1948, was one of the very first drive-in movie theatres and is also one of the very few remaining in New Hampshire.
The Weirs Drive-In will reportedly close Labor Day.
