WOKQ Chowderfest Is One Of The Best Ever!
A huge "thank-you" to all who joined us Saturday at Prescott Park in Portsmouth for the 30th Annual WOKQ Chowderfest! I can only comment on recent history, but I have to say that this year's was one of our best ever Chowderfests. My recent history would be the past 16 Chowderfests. We had a rain-out two years ago and I missed one year due to a date conflict with a show at Gillette Stadium.
This year was incredible from start to finish. My guess is somewhere around 2000 attendees, though the folks at Prescott Park are still counting. An absolutely beautiful day, great music and lots of chowder. Taste of the Seacoast Magazine was on hand to handle the judging duties with the expertise of Keith Lemerise, Denise Landis of The Cook's Cook and Executive Chef Ken Ingle from Wentworth by the Sea. The judges' picks were:
1st- 7th Settlement
2nd- Ri Ra
And the judges chose Newick's as the Best Booth.
The People's Choice Awards shook out like this:
1st- Ri Ra
2nd- Martingale Wharf
3rd- Newick's
The People's Choice Award for Best Booth also went to Newick's.
