The World’s Longest Lobster Roll Was Made in Portsmouth, New Hampshire
When you think of the Summertime delicacy that is a lobster roll, the state of Maine comes to mind immediately. They have perfected the art of the lobster roll which is why tourists flock to their rocky shores all Summer long to eat them by the pound.
But it was in our sweet little city of Portsmouth, New Hampshire, that lobster roll history was made.
Back in 2017 the British Beer Company was a hotspot in downtown Portsmouth. The folks over at BBC had a mission. They wanted to serve the longest lobster roll in the history of the world. They looked up the world record of the longest lobster roll at that time, which was120 feet long. They set out to beat it in a big way.
It took over 200 pounds of lobster meat, four gallons of mayonnaise (too much mayo for me to think about) 10 pounds of celery, and lots of lemon juice, but they did it.
The finished product was 159 feet and 6-inches long
A Portsmouth police officer signed off on the documents to submit to the Guinness Book of World Records to make the glorious achievement official.
