As the children’s song starts, “Lizzy Borden Took an Axe…”  You can now be the owner of her home, which she called “Maplecroft” for a mere $890,000 according to bostonmagzine.com.  The property located at 306 French Street in Fall River is a historic Queen Anne home that has been completely restored.  The house, built in 1887, was where Lizzy moved in 1893 after being found not guilty of the brutal murder of her father and stepmother.  The 3,935 square foot home has tons of improvements and has been restored to its former glory.

There are fourteen rooms in the house that is located not that far from The Lizzie Borden Bed and Breakfast Museum which was the site of the brutal ax murders.  The “Maplecroft” house comes with more than amazing historically accurate upgrades.  According to bostonmagazine.com, Jerry Pacheco, who is the operations manager of the Borden Bed and Breakfast and museum says, “Honestly, that house has a lot of paranormal activity in it.”  Pancheco claims there is even more paranormal activity at the “Maplecroft” house than where the actual murders took place.

Did she do it?  I suppose we will never know.  The house listing is gorgeous, I think I would take it despite the ghosts that may already inhabit it.  The fireplaces, the wood floors the fantastic kitchen the crown molding, the wallpaper in the beautifully and lovingly restored home are a thing of beauty.  With 7 bedrooms, there is plenty of room for a growing family, if you don’t mind ghosts. I know that this is not the house where the actual murders took place but would you buy a house that a murder took place in?
