A Chef from NH Will Run a Marathon on a Treadmill to Benefit His Staff
While we are living in dark times, the creativity of those willing to help others is really shining through.
Local chef and restaurant owner Matt Louis has been training to run the Boston Marathon, which has been postponed due to the COVID-19 outbreak, according to seacoastonline.com, and he remains undaunted.
He will go ahead and complete his OWN marathon on April 20th on his treadmill.
Four of his city restaurants closed this month but he is determined not to miss the marathon and help his staff, Seacoastonline.com stated.
He has 126 employees currently out of work and on unemployment. He does have a small emergency fund to help his employees that are harder hit by the shutdown but wants to raise more money to help them, the article stated.
The news had put him in a funk, so he went for a run on his treadmill and got to thinking.
“I started putting the pieces together,” he told seacoastonline.com. Why not do a fundraiser by running?
Matt Louis said in the article that “Immediately the response was just overwhelming, it’s just really remarkable. For us restaurant owners, our staff is a huge priority on that list of things we need to deal with.
So far, individuals have donated more than $8,000. Run Matt Run!
