With the long winter nights ahead, there is nothing better than curling up with a good book.  The good news is, it will be easier to borrow those books from the Rochester Library as they are starting to open on Saturdays for your book browsing pleasure by appointment.  You can call the main desk at 603-332-1428 extension 2 to schedule your 45-minute browsing session.  They will begin taking appointments for Saturday browsing on October 17 according to fosters.com.  If you already have a book in mind and want to see if it is available, you can do the RPL-To-Go by calling ahead and popping in to just pick up the book you would like.  It is sort of like takeout food but for books.

Did you know you can check out a book without ever going to the library?  With your Rochester Public Library card, you can register for free apps like Overdrive, Libby, and Hoopla which allow you to borrow a book for your e-reader, tablet, or computer for free.  If the selection you want is checked out on Libby, you can put a book on hold and receive a notification with your book is ready for viewing.  You can even use Hoopla for borrowing audiobooks!  Pretty exciting times, we are living in, both the good and the bad.

This is a great way to keep up with reading by not spending tons of money on books and getting them delivered straight to your kindle. There is a lot going on at the Rochester Public library according to fosters.com.  A pumpkin decorating contest (no carved pumpkins please, just decorate with paint, glitter, and stickers.)  They have a very cool scarecrow you can come and take pictures with.  The RPL is also having a Take and Make of a Ghost Finger Puppet in the Children’s Room.  Call the library for more information on all they have going on, including their virtual book club, at 603-332-1428.
