Massachusetts Teen to March With Disney World Band

I grew up in a very musical family so this story really hit me square in the feels!

Luke Barry, a teenager from Mansfield, Massachusetts, is on the spectrum and absolutely LOVES marching bands, according to WCVB. His mom Jill told the news station that Luke has asked for an instrument for his birthday and Christmas every year since he was 2.

Over the years, he has accumulated so many instruments that they were running out of room in their house to store them, the news station noted, and Luke’s dad built a shed in the backyard for his snare drum, trombone, and all of his other instruments to live!

I love how supportive Luke’s parents are of his passion.

WCVB reports that Luke will turn 17 years old this month and will be celebrating in a very special way! He received a video from the Main Street Philharmonic Band in Disney World.

They said, per the news station:

"Since you love music as much as we do, we'd be honored if you would join us and march with us through the Magic Kingdom. See you real soon!"

Luke’s jaw was on floor as he absorbed this video and what it meant, according to the news station. Once it was over he looked at his parents and shouted at the top of his lungs “I’M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD!!!!!”

What a triumphant moment.

Luke's trip will be part of the “Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Parade," and you can watch him march with the Main Street Philharmonic on Christmas Morning from 9 a.m. through 11 a.m. on ABC.
