Buying a New Car Is Kind Of Like Dating
I love my new Honda Civic, I just want to shout it from the mountaintops! We are so happy together. But finding the right one can be tricky and takes time. You can't rush these things! My "car dating" experience went a little something like this:
The Old Car or "The Ex"
I had my Toyota Camry for awhile and things were good. You know, you get comfortable with each other! They become an important part of your life and it's hard to picture what life would be like without them.
But after a while Cam became unreliable. He stopped starting when it was too cold out. He started embarassing me in public when my driver side window wouldn't roll back up after going through the drive thru. And finally he just became a money pit. Every month it was something different; New tires, new alternator, finally I said enough is enough! It was time to break it off with old Cam. I deserved better.
Shopping for New Cars or "Getting Back Out There"
It can be overwhelming at first to start looking for new cars. Should I go online? Should I just go straight to a dealership and try to meet a new car in person? But I told myself "Kira, you are never going to find the right car if you don't get out there start test driving some vehicles."
Test Drives or "First Dates"
I headed over to the Honda Barn in Stratham and told Bill Bradley what I was looking for in a new partner, I mean car. He seemed fairly confident that they had something at the Honda Barn that met my criteria and would make me very happy. The idea of test driving new cars is uncomfortable because you are expected to cruise around town in this car that you hardly know! You don't even know where all the buttons are yet. But there is something exciting about it all.
Picking the Car or "Getting Exclusive"
Through all that test driving and experiencing different cars there was one car that stuck out to me. It felt familiar, comfortable and easy to drive while still being exciting and new. Upon shifting the gear from park to drive, I knew this was the car for me. What can I say, I'm a hopeless romantic? I called my parents and told them I was in love with a blue 2017 Honda Civic Ex and they said "Kira, why are you calling to tell us this?" Just kidding. They were happy for me.
Signing the Lease or "Making it Official"
I was so excited to get it in writing that me and my new Civic were going to be together. And what better place to do it than where it all began? The Honda Barn in Stratham.
With just a few quick signatures and a phone call to set up my car insurance (You have to protect yourself) my Civic and I drove off together into the sunset.
It's been a little over a month that I've had my new Civic and I truly couldn't be happier. I am still discovering new features he has, he keeps me on my toes and makes me feel safe especially driving in the snow. Our lease is for three years and I don't want to rush things but I could actually see me buying him when it's up. Anyway, time will tell. <3
If you are thinking of getting back out there and shopping for a new car of your own, the Honda Barn in Stratham is the place to do it. Who knows, the car of your dreams could be waiting for you.
