When I say that I grew up in New Hampshire, I'm not kidding.  603 born and bred. I once heard someone say, "Oh, I'm not from New Hampshire, I am from Massachusetts."  Well, la tee dah.  Anyway, my family lived in the ol' homestead in Hollis, but then, Dad died and Mom took the family to the big bad City of Nashua.

My formative years were spent getting to know new friends, some who I have to this day. We were houdlums who ran around the city on our bikes or hung out at the Mall and when we were old enough, we went clubbing.

Do You Remember the Bounty in Nashua, New Hampshire?

The Bounty was one particular haunt that I really like to go to.  It was in the Holiday Inn, right off Exit 4 and the place literally had a huge ship that you ordered your drinks at and could sit at the bar when you weren't on the dance floor.

The Bounty not only closed, it was demolished along with Killarney's Pub and the Holiday Inn.

Stan's Place in Nashua, New Hampshire Had Great Food and Drink

The one place I never went into, but I have friends that really like this place; Stan's Place on Water Street had pool tables and dart boards, good food and good people.  What more could you want?  Check out the matchbox my friend Jaime found online.  I didn't go in to Stan's mainly because my Mother's boyfriend, Lenny, used to love to go there, may he rest.  I would be weird to party with Lenny, so I stayed away.

Remember Kegler's Den Inside of Leda Lanes in Nashua?

My Mother, Sister Holly, the aforementioned Lenny and I all used to go bowling at Leda Lanes on Route 101A (Amherst Street) in Nashua.  Maybe you were there too. Inside of Leda Lanes, (did I mention it was a bowling alley?)  was Kegler's Den, pronounced KEG-lahs.  If you were sick of bowling, you could go in and get tanked.  Lenny was all about that, so... in we went.  It was dark and gross, but I got to play the jukebox, so I was happy to tag along.

I have a great life and I'm happy to have grown up, had a family (especially my son, Colin) but there are some days when I wish I could go back to the Kahala and order a Fog Cutter with my mother's alcoholic boyfriend, Lenny.

When I asked my friends about their favorite places growing up in the Gate City, I got a few more to add to the list.  Check 'em out below.
