Live Free or Die, am I right?!

No, this survey was not created off of state mottos, but if it were, we would have won for sure.

WalletHub conducted a national study to find out the best state capitals, and it turns out our very own Concord, New Hampshire, fared pretty well.

In order to determine which state capitals make the best homes, WalletHub compared all 50 across 49 key indicators of affordability, economic well-being, quality of life, and quality of education and health. Our data set ranges from the cost of living to K–12 school-system quality to the percentage of residents who are fully vaccinated.

Now the number one, overall best state capital was Austin, Texas.  It ranked first in economic well-being and quality of education and health.

But we don't care about Texas. We care about our state, and our surrounding states.

So, Concord, New Hampshire, did pretty well! Best in New England. And top 10. We were seventh overall, and ranked third in the category of "Median Household Income (Adjusted for Cost of Living)."

The Granite State capital also ranked fifth in the category of "Percentage of Population in Poverty." New Hampshire's capital was tied for fifth for "Health Conditions."

Perhaps the best category to score number first in, we did! Concord ranked number one in "Lowest Crime Rates."

Below is a map representing the best vs worst state capitals by color. See below to see where other New England state capitals ranked.

LOOK: Things from the year you were born that don't exist anymore

The iconic (and at times silly) toys, technologies, and electronics have been usurped since their grand entrance, either by advances in technology or breakthroughs in common sense. See how many things on this list trigger childhood memories—and which ones were here and gone so fast you missed them entirely.
