Concord Police Department Is Handing Out $50,000 To Holiday Shoppers
Concord, NH police officers have been on the hunt for more than criminals this holiday season. They've been patrolling for shoppers since Monday.
According to Boston.com, the police department got a generous $50,000 anonymous donation a few weeks ago to spend however it wanted to benefit the community. So officers have been showing up at grocery stores, Target, Walmart and downtown restaurants giving away $25 and $50 gift cards.
The website says the police department also handed out hundreds of wrapped gifts during their patrols, and brought presents to the homes of crime victims…including a 6-year-old girl who was paralyzed when she was beaten by her mother's boyfriend in 2014.
Chief Brad Osgood said officers plan to spend about half the money…and they’ll distribute the rest later when they see a need.
