Please forgive me for being so cliche right now, but seriously, this video I've attached along with screenshots is truly like something straight out of Hollywood, and reminds us that summer means more boating and a big thanks to our Coast Guard.

However, with eight real lives at stake, it gives you the chills to watch this video and the extreme and challenging conditions in which this rescue took place from dusk into complete darkness with just searchlights.

The video, posted on the U.S. Coast Guard Northeast Instagram and Facebook pages, shows the U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod crew making a daring rescue, battling wind and rough seas in the Long Island Sound after a group of injured sailors traveling from Bermuda to Connecticut issued an SOS via text message.

According to U.S. Coast Guard Sector Long Island Sound, texting was the only way the sailors could communicate after the wave damaged their sailboat.

These four sailors aboard a 39-foot sailboat called the Calypso were in the rough waters southwest of Cape Cod, 80 nautical miles from Montauk, New York, when their sailboat was severely damaged by a “rogue wave", according to the USCG Northeast Instagram post.

Coast Guard officials say that the wave ripped the masts from the sailboat, leaving the Calypso and its crew stranded.  Here's the riveting video.

The four sailors on board were eventually all hoisted up into the Coast Guard rescue helicopter and taken to the hospital.

And of course, what a relief that the sailors are making full recoveries.
