While wearing one of my favorite T-shirts from Drift Collective, a stranger asked me, "Is that Drift?"

There was no logo or anything - the person could simply tell from the style of my shirt that it was a one of a kind from Drift.

Drift Collective, Portsmouth, New Hampshire:

From the swaggiest shirts, most unique multi-patterned flannels, and the coolest sayings (like "No Surf on Mars"), the small, local brand that is Drift should go national.

Although the style at Drift is what catches most people's attention, it is the story behind the brand that would allow it to have success nationwide.

Opening in downtown Portsmouth in 2016, owner Emily Steams opened Drift with a unique concept: take what already exists and transform it.

That is why the Drift brand is focused on reusing and repurposing clothing.

On the Drift website, they highlight the scary stat that nearly three-fifths of all clothing produced ends up in incinerators or landfills within the year of it being produced.
