My brother recently had to find a new place to rent, and with three cats it was nearly impossible.  Most landlords these days are looking for non-smoking, no pets if you even qualify to get in.

A lot of people are going through this struggle right now with the moratorium on evictions being lifted.   According to Mass.gov, landlords were not allowed to evict tenants for non payment of rent due to the Covid-19 pandemic. That emergency order expired on October 17th.

It seems like that is already a ton of pressure if you're forced to find somewhere else to live, and having pets is definitely adding to that.   For most of us, our pets are like our children, so finding a safe place for them while we're looking for new housing is a priority.

According to Masslive, there is emergency pet housing now being offered to Massachusetts residents to help during a really difficult time.   The Boston Animal League is offering "“housing assistance for pets whose owners may be forced to vacate their current living situation due to the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic."

The goal is to keep families together with their pets, and hopefully everyone will be reunited once you're able to find somewhere to live.  They are offering foster homes for your pets for up to 120 days, according to Masslive.com.

If you find yourself in this situation and need help with your pets, you can contact the Animal Rescue League at 617-426-9170.  You can also find out more here.
