Flags To Half Staff
(Concord, NH) - Flags are flying at half-staff today as the nation observes the traditional Memorial Day.
Memorial Day events are planned for a number of communities today. Among them, a parade steps off at 11 am in Newmarket.
A ceremony is planned at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen.
Gov. Maggie Hassan is scheduled to
speak, and will also attend a ceremony before the event to
present the families of Army Capt. Shawn Hogan and Marine Cpl.
Brandon Garabrant with the New Hampshire Medal of Honor.
Hogan died in 2012 during a training exercise in Kentucky.
Garabrant was killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan last year.
Hassan also has directed flags to half-staff on Saturday.
Americans traditionally celebrate the holiday itself on the 4th Monday of May.
