A section of Central Avenue in Dover that was closed Thursday morning near Wentworth-Douglass Hospital because of a ruptured gas main has been reopened.

The road was reopened around 10:30 a.m., according to the city of Dover.

Central Avenue was closed between Glenwood Avenue and Abbot Street thanks to the rupture created by work crew working on the Central Avenue North Water Improvements Project.

Traffic restrictions remained in place for the ongoing work and was still heavy through the area.

The break had no impact on services at Wentworth-Douglass or access to the facility.

"There has been no disruption to our services whatsoever and no patients were affected by this incident. We were not in danger at any point. Hospital staff coordinated with the Dover fire department to implement detours and ensure emergency vehicles had undisrupted access to the hospital," hospital spokeswoman Cherise Leclerc told Seacoast Current.

Unitil was on scene assessing the situation, according to the city.

UPDATE: This story was updated with the reopening of Central Avenue.
