Get a Free Doughnut On National Doughnut Day

I pulled up to Dunkin' on Silver Street in Dover today to get my usual. A dark roast iced coffee, 2 creams, 3 equals .  Same order, every day. So i was surprised when they said "you get a free doughnut with that!"

Yep, it's true.  It's National Doughnut Day and Dunkin' is celebrating with a free doughnut with any beverage purchase.

It's just a little thing, but it was definitely a nice surprise!  According to WMUR, National Doughnut Day has been celebrated on the first Friday of June every year since 1938.

This was a tradition started to honor women who served doughnuts to soldiers during World War I, WMUR reports.

Other places participating include Cumberland Farms, where you can get a free doughnut with any dispensed drink purchase, Krispy Kreme, and even Walmart where you can stop by the bakery and grab a free treat to go!

So, Happy Doughnut Day and don't forget to stop and grab your free goody!
