If you're looking for a unique way to experience New Hampshire's fall foliage, I suggest taking the ski lift up Gunstock Mountain!

Have you ever done it? It’s actually become a tradition of mine over the years, and there’s something about seeing the Granite State from that high up that never gets old.

Gunstock’s Scenic Lift Ride takes you on a roughly 15-minute ride to the summit aboard the four-person Panorama Chairlift. Once you reach the top, you’ll get incredible views of Lake Winnipesaukee and the White Mountains. On a clear day, Gunstock says you can even see Mount Washington, about 50 miles away.

And if you aren't a hiker, this is a great alternative to still experience the beauty of the fall.

According to their website, a scenic lift ticket is $20 for ages 6 and up, with kids 5 and under riding FREE. Gunstock’s Scenic Lift Ride is currently scheduled to operate seven days a week through November 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Every year, leaf peepers flock to New Hampshire hoping to catch that magical moment when the landscape looks like a painting. And unfortunately, we only get a small window to experience it.

According to Visit NH, the White Mountains typically reach peak color during the first two weeks of October, while the Lakes Region generally follows later. Their 2026 foliage report says the Lakes Region was only at about 5–10% color change as of September 22nd, so there’s still plenty of color to come and time to plan!
