I've always believed that paying it forward is contagious, and this project is proof that one thoughtful idea can grow into something that benefits an entire community.

Haverhill High School's brand new Hillie Food Truck isn't your average food truck.

"This amazing project is the brainchild of our phenomenal Food Service Department, who planned, budgeted, and worked tirelessly to bring this dream to life," said Haverhill Public Schools.

The Massachusetts school announced that this food truck will be "feeding the community" by delivering meals to children in local Haverhill neighborhoods. They are also partnering with Gateway Academy students with their "Farm-to-Table" program for a hands-on experience.

Plus, the Haverhill High School and Gateway Academy students will be "running, operating and maintaining" the truck to build their business skills.

And on top of it all? They even got their art students involved, who helped design the custom wrap around the truck!

The only thing standing between the Hillie Food Truck and the community is final permitting. Once approved, it will roll into neighborhoods, sporting events, and other local gatherings.

What makes this project even more special is how it all began.

Gerald Schiavoni shared on social media that his oldest son and his classmates at Gateway Academy originally had this idea percolating for a while. After discussions and concrete plans, these students (including Gerald's son) were able to take their farm-to-table dream and execute it.

After writing and selling a cookbook, the funds that were raised helped bring this dream to reality. Now these incredibly ambitious students will be bringing healthier meals to their community.

"Watching a group of students take an idea and turn it into something that could genuinely benefit the community was one of the proudest moments I've had as a parent," Gerald said.

I LOVE highlighting stories like this because they remind us that we truly have the power to make a difference in someone's life and especially in our communities.
