Four New Hampshire bears have been found dead as a result of overdosing on chocolate.

Local wildlife had better be "Bear Aware" when it comes to chocolate because it might be their last meal.

“Four black bears, including two cubs, were found dead in September within 50 feet of where a hunter placed nearly 100 pounds of chocolate and doughnuts as bait, wildlife officials said. An autopsy conducted by the University of New Hampshire showed the bears had died of an overdose of theobromine, a naturally occurring toxic ingredient in chocolate.”

Although this was the first report of chocolate induced death in New Hampshire, similar reports have been made in Michigan. This will either result in banning the use of chocolate bait, to setting a limit of how much a hunter can use.

For the rest of the bears, lets just hope they don’t like eating their feelings away in chocolate.
