WalletHub recently compared all 50 states, looking at things like healthcare quality, affordability, and access to doctors and hospitals. When everything was added up, the Granite State landed in the top spot.

"I remember when I moved here, my co-workers all said the same thing: 'Some of the best healthcare in the country is right here in New Hampshire.'"

We all know someone who's had to wait months to see a specialist or struggled to find a primary care doctor who's taking new patients. It feels like those stories are everywhere. But when you compare New Hampshire to the rest of the country, we're apparently doing a lot better than most.

One thing that really helped our ranking is affordability. The report says New Hampshire residents pay some of the lowest average health insurance premiums in the country, and people here also spend less out of pocket on healthcare than residents in many other states.

The study also found that New Hampshire scores really well when it comes to overall health. We have lower rates of chronic conditions like Type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and strokes compared to much of the country.

Another thing that probably works in our favor is location. We have excellent hospitals here in New Hampshire, but we're also close to some of the best medical centers in Boston. For a lot of people, having access to both is huge.

The system is not perfect by any means. If you've tried to book an appointment lately, it can still take a while. Finding a new primary care doctor isn't always easy either. The struggle is real.  I know... I just went through that.

WalletHub's Top 10 States for Healthcare

  1. New Hampshire
  2. Rhode Island
  3. Minnesota
  4. Massachusetts
  5. Iowa
  6. Vermont
  7. South Dakota
  8. Utah
  9. Connecticut
  10. Colorado

But I guess it's all about perspective, right?. Compared to what people are dealing with in other parts of the country, New Hampshire is apparently in a pretty good spot.

It's kind of one of those reminders that we sometimes overlook the good things about living here. We talk a lot about the mountains, the beaches, and not having a sales tax, but having some of the best healthcare in the country is a pretty nice thing to add to the list.

Now I'm curious... does this match your experience? If you've had to use the healthcare system here recently, would you agree with this ranking, or do you think it's missing the mark?
