If You’ve Paid for Public Transportation in Boston, This May Anger You.

Are you a Massachusetts tax payer?  You may want to read this.

Today while perusing social media I stumbled across an interesting story from Channel 7 (WHDH-TV in Boston.)  As a recent transplant coming from working in Boston this story angered me a bit. Maybe I'm overreacting?

According to recent audits MBTA supervisors have been able to approve their own overtime.  One MBTA worker was able to approve himself for 2,600 OT hours last year earning nearly $330,000.

The MBTA states that man retired last month (how convenient) and that the problem has been fixed and overtime spending has been cut by about 30 percent so far this year.

This does nothing for me.  I don't see any of us on this side of the ticket booth getting any kind of free ride, let alone a check for $330K.

I feel like the corruption within the MBTA is never ending.  How is it that overtime accounted for more than $75 million in payouts last year?!?!?  AM I THE ONLY ONE WHO THINKS THIS IS CRAZY?!?!?!?!

I guess I'm just glad I don't work in Massachusetts anymore.  To think my tax dollars were contributing to such a thing makes my head spin. $75 Million bucks folks!

Also, If my boss is reading this.....can I approve my own overtime?
