It’s Groundhog Day (But Not The One You Think)!

(Dover, NH) - Pennsylvania has Punxsutawney Phil, but my backyard has Dover Dave. And today could be his last day.

I have 2 dogs and a fenced-in back yard that they rule. But a groundhog has decided to take up residence just a few feet outside the fence, driving my dogs crazy (and probably my neighbors, too , when the dogs start barking at 4 am).

So, it is decision time. I looked up ways to get rid of groundhogs. Have-A-Heart traps have not worked for me in the past.

I have watched several youtube videos on using a smoke bomb.  It took a while, but I have found both the front and back entrances to the groundhog burrow.

I will have to block one hole to prevent Dave's escape, drop in the smoke bomb and cover the second hole quickly.

The third option I found in my search involves the purchase of a firearm. I think the noise might scare my dogs.  And my neighbors!
