Maine has 29 accredited colleges in the state, according to Wikipedia.

The United States has so many top colleges and universities. So if I were to think about the top schools in the nation, the ones that come to my mind are Georgetown, Yale, Stanford, Harvard, and Princeton.

These universities get far more applications than they can accept each year due to their great reputations. I am assuming they are also very picky schools!

In Maine specifically, we have "Little Ivy's", which are smaller Ivy League schools that are very selective and hard to get into. These schools include Bowdoin College, Bates College, and Colby College.

But which is the hardest to get into?

Let's look at the qualifications of what you need in order to apply for such prestigious schools.

Most Ivy schools require a GPA of 4.0 or higher. You also have to have at least a 700 on east section of the SATs. Other factors include your high school's reputation and extracurriculars (were you active in clubs?) as well as recommendations from teacher and your written essay. This is according to NSHSS, and there may be more qualifications in addition to the above.

So which college in Maine is the hardest to get into?

Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine.

According to Wall St 24/7, this liberal arts college accepts about 9.2% of the students who apply. The median SAT scores are 750 in reading and writing, and 770 in math.

The average annual cost is $16,925 at Bowdoin College, and the graduation rate is high at just under 100%.
