This was my first trip to Terry and Maxine's in Turner, but not my last.

I was in the area, and I love hash. It's one of my favorite breakfast and dinner meals! I went to Terry and Maxine's, and when the waitress said "We're known for our hash," I was sold. They have five different choices for hash and six different benedicts! I went with the Smashed Hash: hollandaise sauce over two eggs, maple corned beef, onions, and shredded carrots over grilled garlic smashed potatoes.

The owner Aaron Lord's grandmother is Terry (Theresa), and Maxine is the grandmother of a dear friend of Aaron's. Arron cooked with his grandma a lot growing up, and she is the inspiration for the restaurant. It's been hugely popular and about to celebrate its 7th year in business this May! It's not just the food (which is amazing), but the atmosphere and prices!

The most expensive item was $15 for the Mexicali Beni. That's nothing! Trust me, for the same meal in Greater Portland would have easily been five to seven more dollars. I love that it's a definite community restaurant. You can always tell that restaurant owners love their customers when they name dishes after them. This is the Moize, named after one of Terry and Maxine's regulars who came up with the dish.

That's country sausage and gravy over a biscuit topped with their maple corned beef hash. Not for the faint of heart. I am not scared when hash is involved.
