A letter was sent out to account holders from Bank of America at the beginning of October, 2024 letting them know that the location at 133 Massachusetts Ave. in Boston would officially close on March 25, 2025.
The closing has also been confirmed via locators.bankofamerica.com.
The account holders were referred to two other locations at 855 Boylston Street and 699 Boylston Street in Boston, not far away.

Reasons Why We Still Need to Visit a Brick and Mortar Bank

  • What if you want to open up a new account?  You have to show your ID and go into the bank.
  • How about if you need cash?  I had a nephew that we gifted a bunch of money too for a business that he wanted to start.  We needed to go to the bank, hand him the cash and ask no questions.
  • What if you need to access your safety deposit box with all of your very important things in it?  Your Grandmother's ring, for instance, that you are trying to keep away from the other greedy family members sits in there and you'd like to check on it from time to time.  You need to go to the building.
  • What if your identity has been stolen and you can't get anyone on the phone?  Lord knows it's stressful enough if this happens to you.  The last thing you need is to try and get someone who does not care two hoots about you on the phone.  At least if you go into the branch, someone will try to help.
There are a myriad of other reasons why you might need to go into a brick and mortar bank, but luckily, in this case, there are two more locations nearby.
