New Hampshire Students Can Be Part of a New Christa McAuliffe Memorial in 2024

New Hampshire is Looking for Student Artists

If you are a student in K-12th grade, the State of New Hampshire is looking for you and your art for a new Christa McAuliffe Memorial to be unveiled in 2024.

Exciting, right?

According to a press release, they are looking for 2D art, i.e., paintings, drawings, digital work or written works of art, such as essays or poems.

There is No New Hampshire Adult Category

Only New Hampshire school-age kids are allowed to submit their artwork.  The competition is divided into three grade levels: K-4th grade, 5th-8th grade, and 9th-12th grade.

There is no cash prize or anything.

However, the top three winners in each category "will be recognized in the ceremonies."

Get Your Stuff Together Quickly

The deadline for submissions is June 1, 2024.  That's plenty of time to think of a design and throw your hat into the ring.  If you have a physical submission, you have to send it to:

The Challenger Exploded on January 28, 1986

This is an incredible opportunity for school-age artists to be a part of New Hampshire history.  I remember when the Challenger exploded.  I remember where I was, what I was wearing, and how the first thing I thought of was, "Her kids were watching." 

It was a devastating day.

I love that our state is building her a new memorial.  Christa should be remembered.

Good luck, you creative geniuses, you!  Remember, even if your stuff doesn't get chosen, keep your creative juices flowing.  It has saved my life more times that I can count.  If they took adult submissions, I'd be the first in line.
