Houses in Hampton and Plaistow were damaged by fire Monday, but no residents were injured at either location.

A fire was reported in the rear of a small house on M Street in Hampton around 3:45 p.m. Responding firefighters brought the fire under control just before 4:30 p.m., according to Fire Chief Michael McMahon. The building and a vehicle were seriously damaged by the fire. The siding of an adjacent building was also damaged.

Plaistow firefighters arrived at a fire in a detached garage in back of a house on Main Street around 7:20 p.m., just over a minute from when the first call came in, according to Fire Chief Chris Knutsen.

All residents were out of the house and garage, and the fire was brought under control in minutes thanks to mutual assistance from Atkinson, Danville, Derry, East Kingston, Haverhill, Newton, Salem, and Sandown.

"Their quick actions saved the residence from any further damage," Knutsen said.

The cause of both fires remains under investigation.
