Maine Governor Janet Mills Tests Positive for COVID-19

Maine Governor Janet Mills has tested positive for COVID-19 for the second time.

According to the governor's office, Mills, 75, took a test Sunday after experiencing a scratchy throat. She will quarantine for at least five days, per Maine and federal CDC guidelines.

“Other than a scratchy throat, I feel fine,” Mills said in a statement. “I will work remotely over the next few days and I look forward to getting back to the office later this week.”

The governor tested positive for COVID-19 in April 2022, and recovered within a couple of days.

Mills will miss an appearance with First Lady Dr. Jill Biden in South Portland Wednesday. Biden and U.S. Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona will be at Southern Maine Community College campus to promote the president's workforce training initiative.

According to the U.S. CDC all Maine counties have a low level of community transmission of COVID-19.
