Love, that’s really what it’s all about, right? At the end of the day, it’s the love that really matters.

And it’s love that keeps 91-year-old Exeter resident Harry King walking every day.

Secoastonline reports that King, 91, walks every day to see his wife in a nursing home a mile and three quarters away from his home.  It might not seem like a far walk but he does it every day, sun, rain, sleet or snow.

Oh, occasionally he’ll take a ride, but he credits the walk and moving in general to his long life, the article stated. That and adopting a plant-based diet years ago.

When caring for his wife, Marilyn, at home became too much, she was admitted into a nursing facility on Hampton Road, according to Seacoastonline.

Harry told the news source that “They had predicted that she would be dead in a year and a half after she got into the nursing home, and she’s not, and the reason is I keep her up on her feet and doing things."

Harry also keeps his mind active by writing and researching, Seacoastonline reported, and he is very committed to the community and would like to make the world a better place.

I think he has already succeeded.

Harry’s story reminded me about the movie “The Notebook.”  I cried like a baby watching that film.  I have a special relationship with my wife, Shawn, and this is how I hope we end our days together.  I know she would walk every day to see me and I would do the same.  I feel blessed to have the kind of love that I feel Harry and his wife Marilyn have.

Here’s to many more walks, Harry!
