After requesting a form for assistance, and being told he didn't qualify, a disgruntled man pulled out a cup of live bed bugs and turned them loose inside the Augusta General Assistance office.

The Kennebec Journal says at least one of the bugs landed on an employee, and the assistant manager used Windex to stun the bug while waiting for pest control to arrive.

Police were called to the scene, the man was arrested, and charges have been filed. Augusta city hall was closed for the weekend. Bedbug detecting dogs were supposed to go through the building today to make sure none survived.
