According to Politico, the Queen City is becoming the new hot spot for the younger generation.

Yesterday, Colin Woodard at Politico wrote a great article about Manchester, NH and it's appeal to the younger generation.  As a city taxpayer, I was truly impressed with the article and it's positive outlook on a place that has certainly overcome a lot of obstacles to resurrect it's economy.  My favorite part of the article is the opening where it cites Hunter S. Thompson visiting the city in 1972 and describing it as a "broken down mill town with an aggressive Chamber of Commerce and America’s worst newspaper."

Don't get me wrong, Manchester still has it's issues.  Recently I moved its South End neighborhood opting out of downtown after bearing witness to the city's ongoing heroin epidemic.  It's a problem that Mayor Ted Gatsas is trying to combat as a number one priority, rolling out his "Not Even Once" campaign to encourage young people to stay away from the drug at all costs.

I would agree that Manchester is certainly seeing a younger flock of new residents.  I'm one of them after moving there in 2011.  Like me, there are a lot of people who work on the seacoast, but find it too expensive to own property here. Manchester offers a commutable drive to the coast with inexpensive property.  Not to mention Dyn, a cloud-based Internet Performance Management company, has become one of the area's largest employers.

The article is worth the read.  Check it out here
