Manchester Public Schools Are Awarded a Free Piano From Barry Manilow
Barry Manilow is making a stop in the Queen City later this month and he's leaving something behind once the show wraps up.
Manilow is not only donating a Yamaha piano to the Manchester School District, but also encouraging others to do the same thing. From now until his show date (Tuesday 3/15) if you donate a new or gently used musical instrument you'll receive two free tickets to his concert at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester.
It's all part of the Manilow Music Project- an organization he founded to donate instruments to local school for what he describes as a "response to the needs of the local public schools and their severely depleted music programs."
As a former music student I think this is a GREAT idea! When it comes to public schools music and arts programs are usually where budgets are cut first. This is a great way to send the message that there is a need for music and arts to thrive in children today and in to the future.
