7-Year-Old From Massachusetts is a Finalist in National Mullet Competition
Now this is a contest I can support.
Mullets are making a comeback, whether you like it or not. Today, a "modern mullet" is a very popular hairstyle with boys and men of all ages.
A "modern mullet" is simply a mullet with not as much hair hanging on to the back. So it is a little "cleaner" and a little less "redneck."
But this national contest is not about the "modern mullet". No. This national contest is seeking to find the guy with the best OG mullet in the entire United States.
And one of our own, a seven-year-old from New England, is a finalist.
This is Brody Byrne, from South Boston.
Brodie is officially a finalist in the national contest, but he needs all the help he can get.
Now it is time to vote for our local mullet celebrity on the Mullet Champ website.
Brodie was almost unable to participate in the contest (and has been unable in the past) because a barber "accidentally" cut his hair too short. But not this year.
He is in it, and wants to win it.
The seven-year-old has a hilarious bio on his voting page:
I’m very proud of my mullet and will never cut it. It’s a staple in my community. Letttttssss Goooo!
A perfect nod to Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
The national mullet contest is raising awareness and donations for Jared Allen’s Homes for Wounded Warriors, an organization "committed to providing Veterans who were wounded in combat with an accessible, mortgage-free, injury-specific home," according to the website.
Talk about an amazing organization, a super cool seven-year-old, and a chance to bring another championship back to Boston.
