Pope Francis to speak to U.N. General Assembly
A day after becoming the first pope to address the U.S. Congress, Francis today speaks to the U.N. General Assembly. The Vatican says the pope is expected to talk about the need for peace, the plight of refugees and the role of poverty and bad government in driving conflict and migration. While in New York City, the pope will also travel to Nine Eleven's ground zero and he'll hold Mass for some 18,000 people at Madison Square Garden.

Video to be released today of police shooting
The state attorney general's office today plans to release video and audio of a deadly police-involved shooting in July. Police say Hagan Esty-Lennon was shot in Bath as he rushed at officers with a knife. The release comes after the state Supreme Court yesterday denied efforts by the victim's ex-wife to put off the release.

Deadline today for 'Moose Plate' 
Today is the deadline for applying for conservation "Moose Plate" grant money through a state panel. Communities, local conservation districts, schools and other groups can apply for funding of projects next year.
