Gyrocopter lands on Capitol lawn
A Florida man says he alerted the U.S. Secret Service that his friend planned to fly a gyrocopter onto the U.S. Capitol lawn. Mike Shanahan tells The Tampa Bay Times that 61-year-old postal worker Doug Hughes phoned him Wednesday and told him of his plans, but Shanahan says he feared the small aircraft and his friend would be shot down. The gyrocopter landed about half a city block from the Capitol building. Hughes was arrested.

Prosecutors say they will retry Marchant
Prosecutors say they plan to retry a man on negligent homicide charges in a 2013 car crash that killed a retired judge. Jurors deadlocked in Ryan Marchant's initial trial in January. A prosecutor says authorities plan to refocus parts of the case after interviews with some jurors involved in the earlier trial.

Husband in runaway mom-daughter case arrested in Atlanta
Federal marshals in Georgia have arrested the husband of a woman who fled New Hampshire with her young daughter a decade ago in a custody battle. Scott Kelley was arrested at an airport as he arrived from Costa Rica along with the daughter, now 19, who was released. Kelley's wife says she left to protect the girl from abuse by her ex-husband.
