New England Guess What’s Headed Our Way? First Freeze is Coming How to Prepare
I can’t believe Summer is over
I can’t believe summer is over already. It seems like it just started and BAM, we are preparing for the first freeze of the season according to foxnews.com. A cold front is sweeping across the Plains states and cooler air is on its way for the Northeast. I like to be prepared for all weather so I would like to remind everyone to get ready.
How to prepare for the Colder Weather
I’m ‘that guy that gets the whole family prepared for winter. Mostly I think because I spent my younger years in the Northeast and then spent my high school years in Florida. I am reminded that someone once told me there is no bad weather, only wrong clothes and I have never forgotten the expression. The weather in New Hampshire can quickly change from shorts and tee-shirts to jackets and hats so I always have at least a lightweight jacket and hat in my car. I am also a big car guy. Get those cars winterized BEFORE the weather requires it of you. Check radiators, check your antifreeze, make sure your window washer fluid is the type that won’t freeze, and don’t forget to keep a scraper in your car.
Weather-Related Emergencies
Since the incident in Texas last year was an unexpected winter storm that brought power outages to areas that normally don’t see such things, I am determined to be prepared. Who would have thought you could freeze in Texas? I know just how cold New Hampshire gets so I make sure I have my phone always charged, a backup power brick for my phone, plenty of canned beans. I never travel without my reflective triangles in the car in case of a roadside emergency. Most important to me is checking the tread on my tires. Take time now to get ready for winter, it will be here before we know it.
Speaking of bad weather...
