How often does a writer or journalist apologize/admit wrongdoing?

I'm not sure - but I'm about to.

If you have not started watching the show 'Good American Family' on Hulu, you HAVE TO. The world is becoming obsessed with this story based on true events.

The show currently (4/17/2025) has six episodes that have aired, and they are releasing new episodes weekly.

SOME SPOILERS BELOW - mostly just what the premise of the show is (not direct spoilers).

The story kicks off when a New Hampshire couple adopts a young girl from Ukraine in 2008. Just two years later, however, they put her up for readoption...where she is accused of being an adult scammer, a thief, a potential murderer, and other nasty accusations.

After the first three or four episodes, I wrote an article about how morbid the show was. I alluded to the daughter being a "psychotic..." perhaps wrongly.

In my defense, the show's first few episodes paint the "child" out to NOT be a child (no spoilers from me, but there were some reliable sources). They even show her as an abuser...

Episodes five and six, however, paint the picture the complete opposite way. The child is actually a child and is the one who is mistreated and abused.

I guess what I should be saying is that I am sorry. Instead of looking up the end result (as this TV series is based on a real story from years ago), I spewed out my gut feelings about the "psychotic" girl from a few episodes.

But the show is taking a different direction. It is making me second-guess my initial gut feeling.

As a blogger/reporter/journalist, my job is to present facts...not cause rumors. And although my initial article included MY feelings (not presented as facts but rather a suggestion to watch the show), I believe I should have waited until the end of the series/story to make my opinion public.

More to come once the show is over!
