New Hampshire’s Longest Scenic Gondola Ride Is Right at Loon Mountain
Did you know New Hampshire’s longest scenic gondola ride lives right at Loon Mountain?
I’m finding all kinds of hidden gems throughout New Hampshire.
The Loon Mountain Gondola Skyride is one of those experiences that sneaks up on you. You think, “yeah, great… a gondola ride.” And then about three minutes in, you’re staring out the window thinking, “ummm… OK… yeah… this is amazing and somewhat romantic.”
It’s quiet, smooth, and somehow calming, like the mountains are telling you to slow down whether you want to or not.
According to the Loon Mountain Official Gondola Skyride Page, the ride takes you from the base straight up to the summit, and it’s long enough to actually enjoy it. Not rushed. Not blink-and-you-miss-it. Just enough time to take in the White Mountains stretching in every direction as far as the eye can see.
If you close your eyes, you can picture it. On a clear day, mountain after mountain fades into the distance. In the fall? Forget about it. Loon Mountain is just showing off.
Reds, oranges, yellows… it feels like you accidentally stepped into a postcard. Put a stamp on it and send it to your friends.
Once you get to the top, take your time. There’s a short boardwalk, scenic overlooks, and plenty of space to just stand there and soak it in. This is a deep breath kind of place. A “we need to do this more often” kind of place.
Bring your camera, but also be prepared to just put your phone down for a minute and enjoy what you see with your own eyes.
When Is The Best Time To Go to Loon Mountain
Fall is the superstar, especially late September through mid-October for foliage. Summer is gorgeous, too; lush, green, and warm without being overwhelming at the top. Early mornings or later in the afternoon are ideal if you want fewer crowds and softer light.
How do I Get to Loon Mountain
Loon Mountain is right off I-93 in Lincoln, which makes it an easy day trip whether you’re coming from the Seacoast, the Lakes Region, or just escaping real life for a few hours.
What Can I Expect at Loon Mountain
Easy, accessible, family-friendly, and surprisingly peaceful. You don’t need to be a hardcore hiker or outdoorsy expert to enjoy it. Just show up, ride up, look around, and remind yourself that New Hampshire really does this kind of beauty effortlessly.
