New Hampshire Snow Plow Naming Contest Continues With These Final 15 Choices
It's the time of the year when temperatures drop and snow falls, and plows are needed on the highways.
The New Hampshire Department of Transportation initiated a contest in the fall to name the shiny new orange plow at the DOT.
Why Name A Plow?
The contest was created to bring light to the "vital role snowplow drivers play in keeping our roads and turnpikes safe and our communities connected during winter's harshest conditions", according to NH DOT.
The community doesn't generally see the around the clock work the transportation crews do during and after a snow storm, or inclement weather.
Their job isn't just plowing or sanding, it's making the roadways safe for everyone who lives in New Hampshire, or is traveling to or through New Hampshire.
Through Snow and Ice and Sleet
Imagine men and women plowing through the worst conditions, on icy roads, and through the snowiest conditions. This is not for the faint-hearted, but only the heartiest of New Englanders, and the New Hampshire DOT is quite proud of the team.
The bright orange plow brings the community together by voting on a name for this big beauty. When the name contest started, DOT received over 900 entries, then whittled it down to the top 15 suggested names.
These name ideas are all very creative and will make you smile.
