Because cold and damp can get really old after a few days.

Here in the Granite State, we are immersed in yet another yawner of a day. People cut you off, everyone at work is a little short tempered, and we're all just hoping for warmer weather. Fortunately, it's New England, and this any type of weather is temporary.

According to WMUR News 9, there is a stretch with sunshine and warmer temperatures ahead. We just have to successfully navigate today. The lingering rain will be heaviest in the afternoon and evening. Even a thunderstorm is possible. Highs will only be in the 50s to near 60, the rain will start to taper off later tonight.

Things begint to improve on Wednesday. WMUR forecasted early clouds will give way to increasing sun. It will be warmer with highs in the low to mid-60s north to upper 60s. Southern sections could even touch 70.

From there, it gets even warmer, with temperatures in the 70s, with partly sunny skies, according to WMUR. An approaching front may trigger a shower or thunderstorm late afternoon or very early evening.

Apple picking this weekend? WMUR says to expect a bright and seasonably cooler Friday and Saturday, but with with fair skies for the start of the holiday weekend.
