NH DOT Workers Get Engaged On Portsmouth’s Memorial Bridge
With Portsmouth's skyline as a backdrop, Sunday was the moment of a lifetime for two UNH grads who met as Civil Engineering Students.
A month into the new year, and you might have noticed your social feeds have taken a post holiday dip in proposal announcements. With Valentine's Day in a few weeks, they are likely to ramp up again. For Dan and Julia, last weekend was one they'll never forget. Not only did they get engaged, Dan stopped traffic in order to make it happen. Sounds dramatic and romantic, and yes to both of those. However, there's more to this story.
According to the New Hampshire Department of Transportation Facebook page, Dan Deltufo and Julia Kallmerten have shared a love for the recently remodeled Sarah Long Memorial Bridge connecting Kittery, Maine to Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Together, they worked on projects such as the Living Bridge Project and the Harbor Walk during their time at UNH and post graduation.
The proposal was made during routine inspection, and Julia said 'yes'. Congratulations!
