When it comes to sending our kids to a good school system, all parents want the same thing.  We want our kids to get a quality education and most of all, we want our kids to be safe.

According to 2025 data compiled by WalletHub, Massachusetts ranked at Number one on the list of all 50 states.  New Hampshire came in at #5.  Here is how they measured each state:

The Study was Based on 32 Metrics Including Quality and Safety

By Quality, they measured the following, among others:

  • High School Graduation Rate
  • Dropout Rate
  • Math Test Scores
  • Reading Test Scores
  • Pupil-Teacher Ratio
  • Share of Licensed/Certified Public K–12 Teachers.  This category showed as a weakness in Massachusetts.

By Safety, they measured the following, among others:

  • Share of Threatened/Injured High School Students
  • Share of High School Students Not Attending School Due to Safety Concerns
  • Share of Children Whose Parents Agree Their Children Go to Safe Schools
  • Share of High School Students Participating in Violence
  • Share of Armed High School Students  (?? What?)
  • Number of School Shootings - This is so sad that this is even a thing.
  • Bullying Incidence Rate
  • Disciplinary Incidence Rate
  • Youth Incarceration Rate

Sometimes I think if I had to do it all again, I would home school my son.  Every parent I know that has done this with their children seem to have incredibly bright kids.  Not always possible, however, in one parent households.

I've said it before, I'll say it again, we should pay our teachers, the ones who we leave our children with, should be paid like we pay our athletes.  Maybe if the NFL opens up a school?  Thinking out of the box here.
