The pandemic has been tough on everyone.  One group hit especially hard are nursing home residents.  Not only do they have to worry about the higher risk of contracting Covid-19, but the isolation has been brutal.

If you have a loved one in a nursing home, you know that visiting has been off limits. Some people have gone months without being able to see their loved ones.  Luckily, that may be coming to an end.

Governor Chris Sununu held a press conference and said that visits may soon be allowed, although they will have to take place outside.  According to Eagle Tribune, state officials are hoping these visits will be able to start in the next few weeks. Commissioner of Health and Human Services Lori Shibinette says that this would only apply to facilities that don't have active cases of Covid-19.

The state epidemiologist Dr. Benjamin Chan says that the data in New Hampshire is starting to look better, but nursing homes are still an area of concern, according to Manchesterinklink.com.

They also reported that Shibinette is hoping to have more information on guidelines and exactly what outdoor visits would look like. Shibinette says that she feels confident that facilities would be able to have visits outside with safety measures in place. She also said that it's vital for these residents to have social interactions.
