One of the Best Romantic Getaways in the World is in New England

Paris, the city of lights, or Venice, Italy, with its gondolas makes us think of romantic destinations, but did you know that according to Travel + Leisure Magazine one of the top 50 romantic destinations in the world is right here in New England?

Boston.com is reporting that Maine has made it into their top 50 most romantic destinations in the world.

What makes Maine so special to the magazine?

Well, the article says “Explore the rugged coasts and quaint towns in Maine, a perfect place to visit for a summer trip. Hike through Acadia National park for beautiful views, visit the Portland Head Light or the Allagash Brewery for a tour and some samples.”

I have to agree with Travel + Leisure. You can’t beat sweeping vistas in Acadia National Park, the scenery is breathtaking.

Boston.com also mentions that the Waldo Emerson Inn is currently offering special winter and romance packages. The Waldo Emerson Inn is located in Kennebunk, ME. The original house was built in 1753 by Waldo Emerson and you might remember his great-grandnephew the philosopher, Ralph Waldo Emerson, who has inspired many a romantic poet.
