Plane Crashes in Laconia

(Laconia, N.H. ) - One person was seriously injured when a small plane crashed this morning in Laconia. Authorities say the injured pilot was the only person aboard the plane.

The pilot, identified by neighbors and by the plane's tail number as Thomas Volpe, was flying from his private 2,000-foot airstrip at his Hadley Road home. Witnesses said his plane started sputtering at about 8:45 this morning just before it crashed in a small field.
