Police Say New England Boy Likely Attacked by Bobcat
Usually if our kids are playing in the backyard, we feel pretty safe.
You know where they are, they’re not messing up the house, and their within ear shot.
Unfortunately, in Fairfield, Connecticut, that wasn’t the case.
According to WHDH, police say a 12-year-old boy is very lucky after likely being attacked by a bobcat! Police responded to Brett Road around 7:30 a.m. to find the teen with a torn sweatshirt and a scratch to his finger.
The news channel says that environmental police were called and confirmed the attack was most likely perpetrated by a bobcat, after obtaining video of the animal in the area about a week before.
The police tell the CTPost that this is an uncommon occurrence and not typical of a bobcat. The article says this is not the first bobcat attack.
Last April, a golfer at Mohegan Sun golf course was injured by a bobcat that had attacked a horse earlier that day, the article stated. That bobcat was found and euthanized.
According to the CTPost, the Dept. of Energy and Environmental Protection says that the bobcat population was previously dwindling until 1972 when bobcats were reclassified as a protected furbearer with no hunting or trapping seasons.
While they are beautiful to look at, here’s hoping the bobcats stay far away from New Hampshire!
