Being of the Jewish heritage, bagels are a huge part of my personality. And as much as I love living on the Seacoast of New Hampshire, our bagel scene leaves much to be desired. If I want a nice New York style everything bagel with veggie cream cheese and lox my options are slim to none; until now.

You might remember the Getty gas station on Islington Street in Portsmouth that has been closed for quite some time now. There was a food truck there for a brief moment in time that was flirty and fun but that came and went.

If you've driven by 361 Islington you will notice they have been hard at work getting the space ready for it's new persona; A BAGEL SHOP! And get this, the name is a nod to it's OG location, so it will be called "The Getty Bagel".

I am loving their vibe already! It says in their Instagram bio that they will be opening soon(ish) and their tagline is "It's so nice to be kneaded!" Get it?! Like dough!

If they slapped that cute little saying on some merch with their cute little bagel guy logo I would buy it, just saying.

There's not word on a firm opening date but we will be sure to keep you posted every step of the way.

Welcome to Portsmouth, The Getty! We are so excited for your arrival!

The Best Places to See a Moose in New Hampshire

Spotting a moose in New Hampshire is not as common as one might think but it does happen!
