It's hard to complain about all the sunshine and beautiful temperatures that we have been getting lately, but there's good reason to want the clouds to darken and the rain come down.  Parts of New Hampshire are in an 'extreme drought,' according to droughtmonitor.unl.edu.

It seems that it's either feast or famine lately when it comes to rain in New Hampshire.  If you recall, this past Spring, every weekend had rain.  I had never experienced anything like that and I have to say, it was a bummer to have those grey skies all weekend long, but now residents in the Granite State are beginning to wake up without water because it's so dry.

WMUR talked to a man from Raymond who woke up one morning to find he had no water.  He said that he never had a well shortage in almost 50 years.

If you have a private well, like I do, it's time to cut the showers short and no watering the lawn anymore. Nearly half of all residents of New Hampshire rely on a private well.

As you can see from the drought monitor map, Grafton County is the most in need of water right now and described as 'extreme drought,' with some towns in Carroll county experiencing the same.  Most other counties are in a SEVERE drought.  Both adjectives, extreme and severe, don't sound very good when it comes to filling up our wells.

I've looked at the extended forecast from WMUR and on my app on my phone and I see no rain fall of significance in the near future.
